Peyton Manning: A Seahawk?

The Seahawks are apparently interested in Peyton Manning.  You can read more about this here

I just wanted to give you my quick take.

Peyton proved just how excpetional he is by not playing.  His team only won 2 games without him and always at least 10 with him.  He is that valuable.  If I were the Seahawks, I’d snap him up.

How To Get Your Website to The Top?

Today, I was doing some research on how to get my website to the top of the search engines.  After reading an article called the best seo tool, I have come across something that I have been looking for for a long time:  The SEO System.

Why is this tool so great?

Well, first off, let me tell you that I have been trying to learn this idea of SEO ever since I started my blog.  And I have to say, I have met with little success.  The reason is that I don’t want to spend all of my time learning all of the science behind SEO.

To effectively learn SEO on the surface is simple, but it gets complex very quickly.  You need to learn all about inbound linking, a href syntax, and a hundred other things.

The SEO System does all of this for you.  You literally do not need to know anything.  It tells you what you need to do to get your website to the top.

Everyday when you login to The SEO System, you are given tasks that you need to complete.  Some days, I do all of the tasks while other days I just do not have time.  But, it gives me a system to succeed.

This is what was lacking in my approach before.  I had no system, simply a haphazard approach that got me nowhere.

The SEO System has given me the direction I need to take my blog to new places.

On top of that, it’s extremely easy to use and directs you to the exact pages and places that you need to be.  Now, when I want to include a hyperlink somewhere, it’s simple.  I just copy and paste from the system without problems.

For anybody who want to get their website to the top without having to learn SEO, The SEO System is  a solution that you need right away.

Putting TIVO Programs on My Computer

I was doing some research on Consumer Reports electronic section about my TIVO.  You see I have all of these shows on TIVO that I would love to put on my laptop so I can watch them anywhere and everywhere that I go.

Imagine that?  A roaming TIVO.  How sweet would that be?

Anyway, I found one article entitled how to record a show from dvr to a computer which aspires to explain exactly what I want to do and I think that I got the grasp of what is required.  After this article, and the many more out there. I have somewhat learned the process.

I am like many of you who look at the back of their TV and think What Are These Inputs on the Back of My TV…seriously, it’s like a jungle behind my TV. Not only a jungle of wires but a jungle of input devices.

My strategy had to be to take it one by one.  Figure out what one is, mark it down, and then go off to the next.

In the end, I figured out how to hook up my DVR to my computer to record shows.  It’s not as easy as one might suspect but not near as difficult either.

Laptops with i7 Processor

Ok, I am at work right now and my computer is acting slow.  So, I need to let my boss know that I need a new machine.  I have been investigating this new processor called the Intel i7 and, apparently, this thing rules the roost.  Thus, I have found a list of the  cheapest i7 laptops and will be presenting it to my boss.

For those not in the know, I will relay to you the links that I have found regarding this i7 processor.  Everybody believes that this is the “impossible” little chip wondering how the i7 processor can do so many things in such a small package.  Bottom line:  it’s the fastest chip out there that you can have in a PC.

Intel Core i7-990X stealthily hits shelves, Origin PC overclocks one to a lap-melting 4.6GHz
These days it’s less about the megahertz and more about the cores, but custom PC maker Origin isn’t leaving either benchmark untouched. It’s taken the as-yet-unannounced six-core, 3.46GHz Intel Core i7-990X processor and pushed it up to 4.6GHz — a full 200 hertz more than the company’s previous hotness, a 4.4GHZ Core i7-980X . The 990X is now available in the company’s desktops as well as the … (read more)

Figuring Out Sales Taxes

So, normally I do not care about sales taxes but the other day I was looking into buying a new kick ass refrigerator and I had set aside about $1,200 to make this purchase.

So, what does that mean?

Well, of course it means that I was looking at all of the refrigerators $1,199 and under.  However, I always neglect to think about the sales tax, which on big items can really add up.

So, for example in California it is 8.25% or something like that.  Well, how do you calculate a sales tax of 8.25%?

I have always struggled with calculating tax of all varieties especially my April 15th tax bill.

Anyway, so I found this page called how do I figure sales tax which answered my very question and it made the math really easy to do.

Basically, while at the store, I realized that I could only buy a fridge for $1,099 because sales tax was going to be in the neighborhood of $100.

While there with my iPad, the man at the store told me that I could even do tax on my iPad when it came time to do Federal Taxes.

How swee is that?

I might now just do my Federal Tax while I am shopping for the fridge!!!

So Into Lady Antebellum

My last post was in January where I wrote about how I have been listening to country music.  Well, maybe I have not written in awhile because I have not stopped listening to these top country hits especially Lady Antebellum.

Like my peeps, I have been Kickin’ It Country Style This New Year and my new favorite group is consuming the charts.  Right now, Lad Antebellum is taking up like 4 places on the country Top 10 list.

Of course, the song that everyone is raving about right now is the one called Need You Now.  It is a beautiful piece of music without a doubt and this song is one of everybody’s favorites.

However, my favorite country song right now of any group has got to this one called American Honey by LA.  This rules over the Need You Now track as it shows the groups diversity and exposes their true raw talent.

Plus, I fancy myself a bit of an American Honey  ;)

I’ll start writing more lately guys and girls…I Promise!

Goin’ Country

Music needs to be an essential part of your life. I swear…it does. And this morning, I am listening to the top country hits and buying a few of them.

We all have our preferred type of music.  Mine is classic rock.  But just because it is your preference, this does not mean that you should be exclusive with THAT type of music.  You must broaden your horizons.  It’s a must!!!

For instance, I read an article called Lady Antebellum on Top of the Charts and, frankly, I had never hear of Lady Antebellum.  However, I gave them a listen and realized that I was missing out on something great.   You simply cannot limit yourself to one type of music.

There is another band that has piqued my interest this Sunday morning as well called Zac Brown Band.  I am not sure this fits in the country category as it sounds a bit bluegrass Rock N Roll to me.  Either way, I love it.  I also found some “live recordings” of Zac Brown and absolutely loved what they were putting out.

My point?  Music can drastically improve how you feel everyday.  If you are down, listen to some music–and music outside of your comfort zone–to really expand who you are and make you happier.

Trust me; it works.  After goin’ country this morning, I might just stay here for a bit :)

Is a Roth IRA a Good Idea

Lately, I have been investigating How To Open A Roth IRA as I am exploring my retirement options.

Currently, I contribute almost the maximum to my 401k but do not save much beyond that so I am looking for other retirement vehicles.  It’s just hard to save money outside of my retirement fund because I like to spend it :)   Who doesn’t?

Anyway, if you do your retirement fund right, you will have a lot of money for your retirement years.  This is why I am trying to max out my 401k every year and looking for other vehicles as well so that I will have money when I retire.

Thus, as I am investigating retirement options, two possibilities stick out:  an IRA or a Roth IRA.

I have realized that I can choose either of these and the main difference is that, with the IRA, the money is taxed when I take it and with the Roth IRA, the money is taxed before I put it in.

This is a hard decision.  If I go with regular Roth, I have more money in my pocket now.  And if I go with Roth, I have more money in my pocket later and less now.  But retirement is for later, right?

Thus, I am going to open a Roth IRA and contribute the max each year of $5,000.  This will be less than $500 a month and will set me up nicely in my retirement years.  I will have to sacrifice a little right now but will have nothing to worry about later in life!

Martha in the Kitchen Cooking Salmon

Yesterday, I went to the market and wanted to cook something good because I am on a health kick.  So, what to cook I wondered?

Well, I had read that Salmon is very good for you.  On a recent trip to Alaska, I actually went to a Salmon factory where they show you how the salmon are raised.

This is truly cool.  The Salmon are born, go live their lives, and then return to where they were born to die.  They have like a homing device.  I fully recommend this factory tour when you go to Alaska.

So, I am in the supermarket yesterday and I asked for Salmon.  They pointed me to the salmon and I chose one.  Then, a lady appeared behind me and said, “Don’t get that.  It’s farmed and not good for you.”

I had read about this but almost accidentally bought farmed salmon which is not healthy and thus against my rules.  I finally found the fresh salmon and a detailed page on how to cook salmon and then I set about the process.

Salmon is so delicate, much more so that steak.  But, in the end, I did an ok job and pleased myself and others.  With a little more practice, I think I’ll be able to make the perfect salmon!!!
